The National Privacy Principles
The Federal Government introduced legislation that came into force in 2001 to protect your privacy. This legislation comprises national privacy principles that apply to private sector organisations. Our commitment to your privacy
Nutrition for Health recognises and abides by Australia’s National Privacy Principles and is committed to respecting your right to privacy and your right to control the accuracy of your personal information when you contact us, visit our website or access our services and when you share your experiences and health history with us.

We only collect personal information that is needed to provide our range of services to you or directly related to the services of Nutrition 4 Health. We protect your details through encryption, firewalls and/or computer network security systems, restricted access and building security systems.

We will collect your personal information, including your name, address, email address and telephone number, if you voluntarily provide it to us, for example by registering for our nutrition, health or food services.

We will only use your personal information for the purpose for which you have provided it, or as otherwise permitted by Australian privacy legislation. Nutrition 4 Health will take care to ensure that your personal information is also handled and stored according to the provisions of Australian privacy legislation. We will take appropriate steps to protect it from misuse and loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. However, no guarantee can be given that information sent over the Internet is 100% secure.

We never share information about you with any other organisation beyond what is necessary to deliver the services you have requested from us and you are always welcome to review the information we hold in our records.

You have the right to opt out of any emailings or direct posts sent to you

We will endeavour to the best of our ability to deal with any complaints about privacy and/or breaches promptly.

Our Privacy policy covers information that identifies you, your child or other family member as an individual. It also covers information from which your identity is apparent or could reasonably be ascertained.

Why we collect your personal information
Your personal and sensitive information, including health information, is only collected as is necessary for a function or activity to enable Nutrition 4 Health to carry out its services to you.

Each time that we send you a communication we will provide you with a simple way to opting out of receiving a similar communications in the future. You can also let us know that you do not wish to receive any further mail by e-mailing us on support@nutrition4health.com.au.

Occasionally Nutrition 4 Health may allow third parties to mail you with information that we believe may be of interest to you. These organisations usually allow us to do the same and this way we can reach more people with vital information. However whenever we contact you, we will always give you an opportunity to opt-out of receiving such offers. We also do not give these organisations your details. Instead these mailings are arranged through an independent party, which is strictly compliant with privacy legislation. However if you do take advantage of any offer from a third party organisation, they may send further offers to you directly.

Nutrition 4 Health will not collect sensitive information about health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or membership, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade association or union membership, sexual preferences or criminal record, unless you have consented to give this information and it is relevant to services of Nutrition 4 Health. We will always collect such information in a non-intrusive, lawful and fair manner.

Information we collect
We only collect personal information about you if it is

  • Necessary to supply you services that you request or give you the access you need; for example, if you want to subscribe to one of our email newsletters; buy a publication or other item from us; ask us for advice in relation to a health issue;
  • Necessary to the research, planning, product development and marketing requirements of N4H; for example, to communicate health and nutrition information;
  • Necessary to protect the rights or property of Nutrition 4 Health, any Nutrition 4 Health publication, any Nutrition 4 Health subscriber or any member of the public;
  • Necessary to lessen a serious threat to a person’s health or safety; and/or
  • As required by law.

We will only collect information by lawful and fair means and we will take steps to ensure that the information we collect does not intrude to an unreasonable extent on your personal affairs. We will usually collect personal information directly from you.

Sensitive information
Sensitive information is information that identifies for example an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, health and nutrition history, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union or sexual preferences or practices. Nutrition 4 Health does not collect sensitive information about you unless you specifically choose to volunteer it to us, for example in a letter to us about your experiences or concerns.

When we collect information for research topics such as people’s healthcare experiences, the information is usually collected anonymously and is always only used in the aggregate, for example to lobby the government on nutrition and health issue. You can always opt out of giving this kind of information.

We may also collect general demographic data so we can check aggregated results against ABS statistics to ensure they’re representative, but the identification is never used on a personal basis.

Where you give us information about your experiences with our products or services this may be interesting to others when we publish articles on those topics. If we wish to use your experience and you’ve provided it to us in a private communication (letter, fax, email, phone call, survey) we will always ask your permission before we publish it. You always have the right to refuse or to request anonymity.

Anonymity
Wherever it is lawful and practicable we will give you the option of not identifying yourself when contacting or dealing with Nutrition 4 Health. So, for example, you can visit the free parts of our websites, respond to surveys, or ask us questions without identifying yourself. However, if you want to receive Nutrition 4 Health’s services, ask a question about the personal information we hold about you or say, buy a book directly from us you will need to give us certain personal information.

How we collect your personal information
We collect your personal information when you provide it to Nutrition 4 Health in a number of ways including through a call to Nutrition 4 Health. We may also collect your personal information from publicly available sources such as the telephone directory.

How your personal information is used and disclosed
We will not use or disclose or permit the use or disclosure of personal information that could be used to identify an individual except in the following circumstances:

  • When you purchase something from us or respond to one of our promotions we will use the information you provide to deliver any information, goods and/or services you have requested.

For clients we may also:

  • Ask you for your email address so we can send you our email newsletters — you can always opt out of these
  • Tell you about related products or services that Nutrition 4 Health provides.
  • Invite you to participate in research to improve Nutrition 4 Health products and services.
  • Invite you to participate in surveys about consumer products or services, for example, send you a survey about your experiences with our practitioners.

We may use information about you that was collected by another organisation to send you promotional offers on Nutrition 4 Health products or services. In this case we will take all reasonable steps to make sure you gave informed consent for the information to be used in this way and we will give you the option not to receive further contact from Nutrition 4 Health.

We will from time to time use the information we hold about you to send you promotional offers either individually addressed or promoted within existing products. These offers are to do with other Nutrition 4 Health publications and services. We will always give you the option not to receive any further individually addressed promotional contact from Nutrition 4 Health.

When we send you an email newsletter we may collect information about opening and click through rates. We will only use that information in aggregated form.

Where personal information you give us is disclosed to an agent of Nutrition 4 Health (for example to data processing, data analysis, printing, or mailing contractors) it will only be disclosed to the extent necessary to enable them to undertake the specific task we’ve contracted them to do and we will require them to operate under conditions of confidentiality, which will be specified as a term of the contract between Nutrition 4 Health and the agent. Such an agent will be required to return all original records to Nutrition 4 Health, return or securely destroy any copied records and ensure that its employees are familiar with their obligations of privacy and confidentiality. Personal information collected by Nutrition 4 Health will not be given, sold or rented for use by any other organisation or for any other purpose. Any partners of Nutrition 4 Health are also required to abide by Australia’s National Privacy Principles. Nutrition 4 Health does not transfer personal information about individuals to anyone else or any other organisation in a foreign country.

If you provide us with your personal information, it is securely stored in our database, which is accessed only by authorised staff at Nutrition 4 Health. Our computer system is kept secure by our internal network using Windows NT Domain authentication. Each user has security level access and must provide a username/password to gain access. In addition, our external access to email and the Internet is protected by a Firewall/Router.

The quality and security of your personal information
We will take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold about you is relevant, not excessive, accurate, complete and up-to-date. Each time we contact you we will give you an opportunity to correct or update details and you may contact us at any time during business hours if you wish to check or change your personal information.

Our customer records are protected by a range of security measures: firewalls and/or computer network security systems, restricted access and building security systems. Personal information, about former clients, is retained for a period of time after the customer relationship ceases as required by law and as part of Nutrition 4 Health’s intellectual property base. During this time we may contact you to tell you about Nutrition 4 Health products or services or to ask you why you left Nutrition 4 Health. You can request not to receive further contact from us either by indicating so on the material we send you or by contacting us directly.

Nutrition 4 Health employees are trained in and abide by the Nutrition 4 Health privacy policy. Adherence to the policy is reviewed annually by Nutrition 4 Health’s Privacy Officer.

Disclosing your personal information
Nutrition 4 Health will not provide your personal information to any other individuals or organisations except on a confidential basis to contractors who provide database management, printing and mailing services to Nutrition 4 Health. In these cases, we ensure that our contractors are also bound by the National Privacy Principles to keep your personal information confidential.

Visiting our website
When you visit our website, you can browse at your leisure. Nutrition 4 Health does not use "cookies" to track your movements through the information section of our website or your visits to other websites. Nutrition 4 Health will only place a "cookie" on your computer for (a) the purposes of tracking navigation.

We will only record your email address if you send us a message and your email address will not be used for any other purpose without your consent and will not be passed on to any other organisation.

Nutrition 4 Health website contains links to other sites of interest. Nutrition 4 Health does not control, and is not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of those websites. Please check the Privacy Statements on other websites before you provide your personal information to them.

By using Nutrition 4 Health’s website, you agree that the Internet is not secure and accordingly, Nutrition 4 Health cannot provide any assurance regarding security or personal information sent over the Internet. Nutrition 4 Health will not be liable in any way in relation to any breach of security or any unintended loss or disclosure of your information.

How to check or correct your personal information

To see what personal information we hold on you, please write to us requesting access to it:

Please include the following details so that we can identify you: your full name and address as they appear in our records, your daytime phone number and email address (if applicable), details of your previous consultations with us and/or of your recent purchases from us. Because email is not 100% secure, we ask that you put this information in a letter or fax rather than in an email.

We will send you the personal information we hold about you within ten working days of receiving your request in writing. We will then work with you to alter or update any information that we both agree was inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date within a further five working days. In the unlikely event that we disagree with you about the changes you want made, we will explain why and, if you wish, add a note to your records stating that you claim the information is inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date. There is no charge for this service.

You will need to give us sufficient information so that we can identify you; for example your name, address and phone number or your email address.

The Spam Act 2003
The Spam Act prohibits the sending of unsolicited emails and SMS messages for commercial purposes from or within Australia or to people in Australia, and bans the supply and use of software designed to harvest email addresses. N4H abides by best practice guidelines relating to responsible electronic messaging practices as developed by the relevant Australian communications authorities including the Internet Industry Association.

Changes to this privacy policy
If our privacy policy changes, we will draw your attention to our new policy through the services you subscribe to or by or through our website.

N4H may, without notice, amend or modify its Privacy Policy by posting the amended Privacy Policy to N4H’s website.

Complaints
We are committed to dealing quickly and appropriately with any complaint you make about your privacy in relation to Nutrition 4 Health’s publications, services or practices. If you are concerned that this privacy policy may have been breached or that your privacy may have been compromised please contact us in writing immediately, setting out your concerns.

Unresolved complaints
If you are not satisfied with our handling of your complaint you can refer it to the Australian Federal Privacy Commissioner.
